Raymond Russell performed best of the 13 Scots in action on Day 1 of the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 four-round events at four venues in Spain today (Sat).
He rested on his laurels after the turn, reeling off nine straight pars.
Approximately the leading 20 players from each of the four venues will go forward to the Final Q School at PGA Catalunya from November 10 to 15.
Also at the Lumine venue, Jack Doherty is in joint 19th position after a 69. He birdied the first, third and eighth in covering the outward half in three-under 32.
Northern Open champion David Law had a 70 for a share of 27th place. A double bogey 7 at the last hole took the shine off the Aberdonian's five-birdie scorecard with halves of 32-38.
Paul Doherty is joint 52nd after a 72, two better than Elliot Saltman who is sharing 70th place at the Lumine venue
Tartan Tour regular Neil Fenwick from Dunbar shot a two-under-par 70 at El Saler Golf Club, Valencia to be sharing 11th place at that venue.
Fenwick bounced back from a double bogey 6 at the eighth to come storming home in four-under-par 32. He had five birdies in all.
Also at El Saler, Aberdour amateur Scott Crichton was in the top 20 with a 71 - two birdies, one bogey - for a share of 16th place.
Lloyd Saltman and George Murray are bracketed in 37th place on 73 while, also at El Saler, Wallace Booth and Paul Ferrier gave themselves a lot of work to do by returning 76s.
Murray birdied the fifth, seventh and 11th but bogeyed the 14th and 16th.
Saltman dropped five shots in a five-hole span early on the inward half after reaching the turn in two-under 34.
Booth bogeyed the last three holes while Ferrier had double bogey 6s at the first and eighth in 39 to the turn.
Paul McKechnie had a two-under-par 69 at Valle Romano Golf Club, Estepona. The Braid Hills man is joint 25th and is in better shape than Calum Macaulay who had a 72 for a share of 51st place.
There were no Scots in action at the fourth Spanish venue, Las Colinas G and CC, Alicante but West Linton's Welsh-born tour pro, Gareth Wright, is playing there and he started with a two-under-par 69
Entry fee for the European Tour Q School process is £1,350, even for the players who failed to progress past Stage 1.
