PETER SENIOR IN THE HUNT AT US SENIORS FINALE IN SAN FRANCISCO

FROM THE EUROPEAN TOUR WEBSITE
European Senior Tour winner Peter Senior remains in the hunt at the US Champions Tour's season finale, the Charles Schwab Cup, despite being overtaken by 2012 Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex champion Fred Couples after the second round in San Francisco.
Senior, who finished tied third at this year's Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex at Royal Birkdale, was leading overnight after the opening round thanks to an eight under par 63.
While he stayed steady on day two thanks to a two under second round which included four birdies and two bogeys, Couples charged to the front and into a two shot lead after the American signed for a flawless six under par six under par round to move to 12 under for the tournament.
Senior, however, is still confident that he can claim the season-ending title. "If you play well enough, you're going to do it," he said. "Inside me I know I'm good enough to win tournaments and I'll go out there with that on the weekend."
Bernhard Langer, meanwhile, is five shots off the pace on seven under par after the German signed for a three under par 68.
