A record number of grandstand seats will give spectators at this year’s Open Championship at St Andrews the best view ever of the world’s top golfers in action. Advance ticket sales are running at levels which have convinced the R&A to add further seats to the increased number already planned. When the Open was last played at St Andrews in 1995 there were grandstand seats for 18,000 golf enthusiasts. Plans to increase that number to 20,000 have been revised and a total of 21,500 will now be available at key vantage points on the Old Course for the 129th Open from July 20-23.
