TWO SCOTS AMONG LEADING QUALIFIERS FOR
SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH-PLAY
Overnight leader Daniel Young from Perth slipped down to
joint third place among the 64 qualifiers for the match-play
stages of the South African amateur golf championship at
Hermanus Golf Club on the Western Cape today (Monday)
Young added a 73 to his opening 66 for a five-under-par
139 totals.
Cawder's Jamie Savage qualified in joint fifth place after
improving by five shots to post a second-round, four-under-par
68 for 141.
The surprise leading qualifier was Jovan Rebula, a 16-year-old
nephew of Ernie Els, no less.
Jovan shot 70-66 for eight-under 136 to pip another South
African, Ross Sinclair (69-68) for the Proudfoot Trophy as
the leading match-play qualifier.
