DAVID LAW WINS BY THREE - HOST PAUL
LAWRIE SHOOTS 64 TO FINISH SECOND
David Law led from start to finish to win the Paul Lawrie Invitational by three shots from his host at Deeside Golf Club today (Thursday).
The 22-year-old Aberdonian, after a stellar career as an amateur, was scoring his first pro win in the United Kingdom following victories in Morocco and Turkey on satellite tours. He earned £6,000 for a classy performance.
On a very wet day, Law closed with his worst round of the three over the Bieldside course, a one-under-par 69 for an 11-under total of 199.
With birdies at the long third, short 12th and long 13th, Law had raised the bar to 13 under par but he bogeyed the last two holes.
Fittingly, Paul Lawrie, who could blind the Deeside course blindfold, matched the lowest round of the tournament - a second-round 64 by Law - on his last circuit to finish second on 202.
Paul, who nominally received £4,000 for being runner-up, had a bogey-free cards with six birdies - at the second, long third, long sixth, long 13th 15th and 18th.
Montrose's Graeme Brown finished third with a 67 for 204 to pick up a cheque for £2,750, one of his biggest pay days as a pro.
Scottish U18 boys champion Bradley Neil from Blairgowrie finished the leading amateur in 12th place overall with three rounds of par 70 for 210.
